The author and his Mama enjoying the beach

This blog was born from an obvious need among my parent-friends for a quick, easy resource for reading to their children.  These parents already knew that reading to their children was a necessity, but many of them didn’t know which books to read, didn’t have a background in effective reading practices, and didn’t have time or energy to research either of these huge topics on their own.  It is the hope that this blog will fill these gaps and supply parents with short, easy-to-digest, easy-to-implement ideas that will make reading with their children the highlight of the day, as it is in our house.

A word from the author:

Hi! I’m Luke, and I’m two and a half years old.  I really enjoy reading, long walks through the woods, singing songs, hoarding anything yellow or circular in shape, and counting things.  My Mama and Dada are both pretty good at reading to me (I’ve taught them well), so I started this blog in order to share some of the ideas that they’ve learned from practicing with me.  I hope you enjoy it!

A word from the author’s Mama:

Hello!  I’m Erin, and I’m…an undisclosed age.  In my previous life, I was a high school English teacher for eight years.  I taught every grade at some point, but during my last four years I taught Advanced Placement Language and Composition and Senior English.  I hold a B.A. in English, a B.M. in Violin Performance, and a M.Ed. with a Literacy concentration.  I am also a National Board certified teacher.  I am an avid reader, and reading with Luke has become a major, all-consuming passion over the past two years.  I hope you enjoy the tips I’ve picked up from reading with him.
